No speed stats or lap times, ever: the leaderboard only counts distance. Plan your route before you drive, and keep your phone down once you're moving.
Questions
What is NightRoutes?
NightRoutes is a free map of driving routes people actually like to drive, from city light loops to empty highway runs. You can browse routes anywhere in the world or share your own.
Is NightRoutes free?
Yes. Browsing, sharing routes, and making an account are all free.
Do I need an account?
Yes, a free one. It only takes a username and password; adding an email is optional and is only used to reset your password. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time from your profile.
How do I find a route near me?
Open the map, type your city in the search box, and press Enter. The map flies there and the list shows the routes in that area. Any route you open shows its distance, drive time, and the best time to go.
How do I drive a route?
Open a route and tap Google Maps or Apple Maps. The whole route loads with turn-by-turn directions. Set it up before you start driving.
Can I edit or delete my route?
Yes. Open your route and use Edit to move its pins or change the details, or Delete to remove it. Changing the line or the name sends it back for a quick review.
Is NightRoutes for street racing?
No. There are no speed stats or lap times, and the only leaderboard counts distance driven, never speed. It is for cruising and enjoying the drive. Always follow the speed limit and local laws.
Who can see where I drive?
Only you. Drives you log stay private: other people only see your total distance. Routes you share hide their first and last 300 m by default, so they never show where you live. The privacy page has the details.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. NightRoutes runs in your phone's browser with nothing to install. There's also an app: download the APK on Android or the IPA on iPhone (tap Get the app at the top for a step-by-step guide). The app keeps recording your drives with the screen locked.
